Color Made Easy

I think I am reverting to my old magazine-holic ways, yesterday I spontaneously purchased the Meredith publication "Color Made Easy"  Fall/Winter 2011 Issue

If you haven't gotten this issue, hurry and get it!  For those of you who have taken my Color Theory Class or any of my workshops where I have talked about mixing pattern textures and scale (all of them!), contrasting and pairing colors, this publication is a beautiful version of what I preach!!  This is the perfect time of year to begin our nesting impulses and get your winter reading materials piled to the ready at the chair side.  This inspiration book is on the top of mine.  When the holiday grinds to a halt in January and the New England country side turns grey and neutral, my colorful inspiration time blooms!  I think of rooms I want to change, spruce up, and color color color!!  My favorite paint company of the moment is Yolo ColorHouse and believe it or not you can get Yolo Colorhouse at Home Depot! (find them on Facebook and follow their colorful path)
Here are some of the colors I am thinking for some of my rooms.
Upstairs Bath: Create 03
Dining Room: Dream 06
Kitchen and Porch:  Thrive 03

What are some of your favorite colors of the moment?

Yellow is getting there

TADA!!!!
The sling is almost finished being wet felted, (the above photo is before any water hit the fiber) I am fine tuning the shaping with hand forming, and then I' will be finished with the YELLOW Challenge!  (Which I think was really more of a challenge in time management than anything else!!)

C2Paint and Lee Perault of Via-Design

I have been chatting with a very talented colorist interior designer in recent months, and like all colorists we talk about our color references.  I have always loved my Benjamin Moore, but Lee Perault turned me on to a new resource.  I haven't gotten
myself a paint deck yet for the studio, but just looking at the web site for C2Paint one is immediately inspired.  They have a Look Book that is fun to boot!    Lee does business in Rye, NH and her business Via-Design is colorfully exciting.   These room shots are her designs from her web site, thank you Lee for sharing.

We are presently working together on a pair of art pillows for her client, in a space she designed for them with chocolate brown and lavenders, the wall opposite this seating area is the most incredible chocolate color.  My pillows will be on each of the sofas.  I am looking forward to this project and wondering what I will be designing?   hmmm

Color Theme music videos

A couple of years ago we were in Toronto for a trade show and of course "shopped the market"! During one such outing we came across a very perfect home design store called Jane Hall Designs. She is my sister in color to say the least and shares it in her retail space, web site, newsletters as well and private consulting. Jane's latest newsletter not only speaks of a recent trip to Europe and all she saw and bought (Oh I wish Toronto were closer!) she announced that she has collaborated with a video company to put her favorite themes of colors together in
color music vidoes.
Here are just a few to get you pumped!

Color It Costal by Coastal Living

The other day I picked up a great magazine by Coastal Living, called Color It Coastal. It is actually a reissue of a special edition, and in going through this mag, it reminded me of how I teach my color theory workshops. They brilliantly highlight 8 "Stunning color palettes" working their way around the color wheel, ending with a very inspired color wheel. I encourage anyone who loves color (I do! I do!) and decorating, to grab this on the news stand while it is out there 8/7/09. (The $10.99 is well worth the space on your shelves or where ever you put your magazine eye candy)
